The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has released two important documents for the NEET UG 2026 Online Stray Vacancy Round: the Provisional Eligible Candidates List and the Seat Matrix. Both were published on 17 October on wbmcc.nic.in and mark the final stage of MBBS and BDS admissions for this academic year.

Please note that the choice-filling window for this round has already closed, as per the official revised schedule.

Key Highlights at a Glance

  • The Provisional Eligible List has 4,045 serial entries across 70 pages.

  • A total of 296 seats are vacant: 276 for MBBS and 20 for BDS.

  • Private Management Quota has the most seats (267). State Quota has only 29 seats.

  • The choice filling and locking window closed on 18 October at 10 AM (server time).

  • The seat allotment result is scheduled for 23 October by 12 noon.

What Is in the Eligible Candidates List?

The list is titled "Provisional List of Candidates Eligible for Choice Filling in Online Stray Vacancy Round". It only confirms eligibility. Each entry shows:

  • All India Rank (AIR) in NEET UG 2026

  • Candidate name

  • Category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.)

  • PwD status

  • Candidate type (State Quota or Private Management Only)

Finding your name on the list is an important step, but it does not guarantee a seat. This is only a provisional list for choice filling. Final allotment depends on your merit rank, reservation rules, quota eligibility and the choices you have locked.

Seat Matrix: Where Are the Vacancies?

The official Seat Matrix PDF is 3 pages long and has 23 entries, totalling 296 seats. Private medical colleges hold most of the vacancies.

  • Top 5 colleges with the most MBBS vacancies:

  • Raniganj Institute of Medical Science: 94 seats (Private Management)

  • Jakir Hossain Medical College & Research Institute: 57 seats (Private Management)

  • Krishnagar Institute of Medical Science: 41 seats (Private Management)

  • SKS Medical College: 32 seats (Private Management)

  • Santiniketan Medical College: 13 seats (Private Management)

Reputed government colleges, on the other hand, have very few seats left. Calcutta National Medical College, I Q City Medical College and College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital have just one State Quota seat each.

For BDS aspirants, North Bengal Dental College has 10 seats and Burdwan Dental College and Hospital has 6 seats, all under State Quota.

Please remember that these are the vacant seats for this round only. They are not the total sanctioned intake of the colleges.

Important Dates You Must Not Miss

As per the Revised Tentative Schedule issued on 12 October 2026:

  • Online choice filling and locking: 17 October (6 PM) to 18 October (10 AM). Now closed.

  • Seat allotment result: 23 October, by 12 noon

  • Reporting and admission: 23 October (2 PM to 6 PM), and 24 and 26 October (10 AM to 4 PM)

Please note: The WBMCC portal may still show a "Choice Filling Started" message, but this should not be treated as an extension. As of 19 October, the deadline has passed unless WBMCC issues a fresh official notice.

What Should You Do Now?

  • This is the last chance of the season, so do not miss the next steps:

  • Keep checking the official website wbmcc.nic.in and its Notice & Events section for the allotment result.

  • Keep your login details, documents and allotment letter ready before the result is declared.

  • Before reporting, check college-specific fees, bond conditions and infrastructure properly.

  • Report on time at the allotted college. Missing the reporting schedule in the stray round usually means losing the MBBS/BDS opportunity for the entire year.

Stay calm, stay prepared and rely only on official notifications to avoid misinformation.
