If you're aiming for an MBBS or BDS seat in West Bengal, here's an update you shouldn't miss. The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has released the revised schedule for NEET UG 2026 Round 3 counselling.

This round covers seats under West Bengal's 85% Government State Quota, along with the Private Management and NRI Quotas. So, whether you're registering for the first time, still waiting for an allotment, or hoping to upgrade to a better seat, round 3 is an important chance you don't want to miss.

Registration and Document Verification

The registration portal opens on September 28 at 11:00 AM. Keep one important detail in mind: registration closes at 6:00 PM on September 30, but you get a little extra time for fee payment, which stays open until midnight the same day. Even so, it's best not to wait till the last moment — website traffic tends to spike near deadlines, and you don't want a slow server to cost you your seat.

Physical document verification will happen at designated centres on September 29, September 30, and October 1. Make sure you carry all your original documents plus photocopies — this includes your NEET UG admit card and scorecard, Class 10- and 12-mark sheets, domicile certificate, caste/EWS/PwD certificates (if you have one), and valid ID proof. NRI candidates need to additionally follow the committee's specific rules for sponsorship and document verification.

Seat Matrix, Choice Filling, and Locking

The list of verified candidates along with the updated seat matrix will be published on October 1, after 5:00 PM. Choice filling then opens from October 1 (6:00 PM) to October 4 (10:00 AM).

Go through the seat matrix carefully before you start filling your preferences. A common mistake aspirants make is relying on Round 1 or Round 2 closing ranks — don't do that, because fresh vacancies keep opening up through upgradations and seat surrenders, so the picture can change quite a bit. List your most preferred colleges first, check the annual tuition fees of private colleges beforehand so there are no surprises later, and remember to lock your choices before the deadline closes.

Result, Reporting, and What Comes Next

The Round 3 allotment result will be announced on October 8, after 4:00 PM. If you get a seat, you'll need to report to your allotted medical or dental college between October 12 and October 14 (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM), carrying all original documents and your admission fee. If you're upgrading from an earlier college, don't forget to collect your server-generated relieving letter and other documents from that college before you report to the new one.

Once Round 3 is over, the Online Stray Vacancy Round is expected to begin on October 15, 2026. That said, the rules for stray vacancy rounds are usually much stricter, so it's wiser to treat Round 3 as your best and most reliable shot at a seat.
