New Delhi, 16 October 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has asked all participating medical colleges, institutes and hospitals to check the seat matrix for NEET PG Counselling 2026. The instruction came in a notice posted on 15 October (Notice No. 4, reference U-12021/09/2026-MEC).

The notice arrives as candidates enter the last days of Round 1 choice filling. MCC wants institutions to check the number of seats listed for each postgraduate medical course and report any mistake before the choice-filling window closes.

What Does the Notice Ask For?

If an institute finds a mistake in its published seat details, it must inform MCC within the given time. The notice gives adgme@nic.in as the contact email.

This instruction is mainly for institutions. It does not bring in a new registration deadline, a separate process for candidates to report seat errors, or an extension of the Round 1 schedule. It also does not say that any seats have been added or removed.

NEET PG Counselling 2026: Round 1 Dates

As per the published MCC schedule:

  • Registration: open until 12 noon on 21 October

  • Payment: can be completed until 3 pm on 21 October

  • Choice filling: until 10 am on 22 October

  • Choice locking: from 4 pm on 21 October to 10 am on 22 October (as per MCC server time)

  •  Seat allotment processing: 22–23 October

  • Round 1 result: scheduled for 24 October

Please remember that preparing a preference list is not the same as locking it. Review your choices early and check the portal to confirm that your choices are locked. The result date is part of the schedule only; it does not mean the result has already been released.

Latest Seat Matrix Figures

As checked on 16 October, MCC’s downloadable final seat matrix PDFs show these figures:

  • All India Quota (AIQ) MD/MS: 14,113 seats

  • Central Internal Quota MD/MS: 857 seats

  • DNB programmes: 9,201 seats

  • Deemed University MD/MS: 7,537 seats

These are separate seat-matrix categories, not one common pool of seats. Open the relevant official PDF to check seats by institute, course and quota, and make sure you meet the eligibility conditions. If older reports show different figures, go by the latest official MCC document.

What Candidates Should Do Now

Before you finalise your preferences, check the latest seat matrix for your chosen college, course and quota. Keep an eye on the official portal for any schedule changes, and complete choice filling and locking before the deadlines.

The verification notice is a data-checking step. It helps institutions and counselling authorities spot possible errors before Round 1 moves ahead. You can read the official notice and follow updates on the MCC PG Medical Counselling website.
