The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a corrigendum dated 14 October 2026. It adds a passport requirement for candidates seeking Non-Resident Indian (NRI) seats in Round 1 of NEET PG Counselling 2026. Candidates under Category I and Category IV must submit the valid passport of the relevant parent, real brother, real sister or sponsor, as applicable, for registration and verification.

This is an extra requirement. It does not replace the documents already listed in the PG Information Bulletin, and the candidate’s own valid passport remains part of the existing checklist. MCC’s notice does not say that every candidate must submit the passports of all the relatives named. The passport you need depends on the basis of your NRI claim and the instructions on the counselling portal.

Which Candidates Are Covered?

The corrigendum refers to two categories:

  • Category I: NRI candidates, or candidates whose NRI claim is based on a parent, real brother or real sister.
  • Category IV (Indian to NRI): candidates who chose the Indian category in their NEET PG application form but now want to claim NRI status during counselling.

Check which category applies to you before uploading documents. Do not assume that the same set of papers is needed for every NRI claim.

Documents to Keep Ready

Category I

Prepare your own valid passport and the additional passport of the relevant parent, real sibling or sponsor. The wider document checklist may also include:

  • NRI Certificate: a certificate issued by a competent authority, such as an embassy or Indian consulate.
  • Proof of relationship, verified by a competent revenue authority.
  •  A notarised sponsorship affidavit on ₹100 stamp paper and the specified NRE/NRO bank evidence.
  • Class 10 and 12 records, MBBS professional examination marksheets and the NEET PG scorecard.
  • FMGE scorecard, if you completed your MBBS outside India.

Category IV

Keep your academic records, NEET PG scorecard, passport and the applicable NRI documents ready. If a legal guardian is involved, you may need to provide:

  • Proof of relationship
  • A notarised affidavit covering financial and academic support
  • Relevant bank records
  • Proof of the guardian’s involvement, such as fee receipts, educational records and bank or payment records

MCC states that an affidavit alone does not automatically prove legal guardianship. The supporting evidence will be examined.

What Should Candidates Do Now?

Before registration and verification, you should:

  • Confirm your NRI category and the documents needed for your specific claim.
  • Keep both your own passport and the relevant relative’s or sponsor’s passport ready.
  • Upload documents in the format and manner given on the MCC portal.
  • Check the latest notice and the Candidate User Guide if any requirement is unclear.

The corrigendum does not announce automatic cancellation for a missing passport. Still, treat this document as part of the verification requirements and do not leave it for the last moment.

Round 1 Schedule Remains Unchanged
