Updated: 23 October 2026
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s NEET UG 2026–27 Stray Vacancy Round has 62 vacant MBBS and BDS seats across 25 institutions, according to the Directorate of Medical Education’s (DME) vacancy matrix dated 21 October.
For candidates, the immediate priority is college reporting and online attendance on 23–24 October. Admissions are scheduled for 25 October, making it essential not to confuse attendance dates with a final allotment announcement.
Key Dates Candidates Must Track
-
Vacancy matrix and eligible list: Released on 21 October.
-
Online application and choice filling: 21–22 October; deadline was 11:59 pm on 22 October.
-
College reporting and online attendance: 23–24 October, 10 am to 5 pm.
-
Admissions based on attendance-cum-merit: 25 October, 10 am to 6 pm.
The choice-filling window has closed. Any reopening should be considered only if DME issues a fresh notification.
Private Colleges Account for Most Vacancies
The seat matrix lists 38 MBBS and 24 BDS vacancies:
-
Government colleges: Seven MBBS and one BDS seat, totalling eight.
-
Private colleges: 31 MBBS and 23 BDS seats, totalling 54.
Private institutions therefore account for approximately 87% of the listed vacancies, not 87% of Madhya Pradesh’s overall medical and dental intake.
Mansarovar Medical College and MGU Hospital, Sehore, has the largest MBBS vacancy count, with 16 seats. RKDF Medical College, Bhopal, has four. Among private dental institutions, Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Indore, leads with seven BDS vacancies.
Among government medical colleges, Khandwa has two seats, while five other institutions have one each.
Live Figures Need Careful Interpretation
A reported snapshot of the institute-wise live report showed:
-
Total choice-filling count: 13,876
-
Attendance recorded: 30
-
Admissions recorded: Zero
Importantly, 13,876 represents choice-filling entries, not necessarily individual candidates. A candidate may select several colleges. Similarly, attendance is not confirmation of admission. The snapshot showed no admissions, while the published schedule placed admissions on 25 October.
These figures can change as the process progresses and should not be used to calculate an individual candidate’s admission chances.
The vacancy matrix and live report serve different purposes. The former records the seats listed on 21 October; the latter tracks participation and admissions during the round. Neither document should be mistaken for an individual allotment letter. Candidates should therefore rely on the latest official instructions rather than unverified interpretations of earlier counselling rounds.
What Should Candidates Do Now?
Applicants should verify their names in the eligible candidates’ list and review the student advisory and college/student instructions dated 22 October before reporting.
They should also:
-
Carry the original documents specified in the official instructions.
-
Confirm the chosen college’s reporting requirements and attendance procedure.
-
Avoid assuming that attendance at multiple colleges is permitted.
-
NEET qualification alone does not establish eligibility for this round. Admission remains subject to the applicable counselling rules, merit position, recorded attendance and completion of required formalities.
The crucial takeaway is straightforward: 23–24 October is the attendance window; 25 October is the scheduled admission day. A vacancy or attendance entry does not guarantee a seat.
