Candidates participating in Karnataka NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling now have additional time to enter their preferred colleges and courses. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has extended the option-entry deadline to 12 noon on November 3, 2026. The earlier deadline was 4 pm on November 2.

KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna, IAS, announced the extension on November 2. The authority also drew candidates’ attention to changes in the fee details of some medical colleges, making it important to review the latest information before submitting preferences.

What has changed?

The announcement covers two points:

  • More time for option entry: Eligible candidates can enter their Round 1 preferences until 12 noon on November 3.

  • Changes in fee information: Candidates should check the latest fee details for their chosen colleges and PG medical courses.

KEA’s message does not say that fees have increased at every college. It also does not specify, in the information provided, which colleges are affected or by how much. Candidates should therefore avoid relying on older fee figures or assuming that a general increase applies.

Why the fee check matters

The cost of an MD or MS seat can vary by college, speciality and seat category. KEA’s provisional fee structure lists categories such as Government Quota (G), Private Quota (P), NRI Quota (N) and Other Quota (Q). A fee quoted for one category may not apply to another seat at the same institution.

Before placing a college high on their preference list, candidates should check:

  • The fee for the specific course and seat category

  • The latest seat matrix and course availability

  • The college’s location and any other applicable charges

This extra review could help candidates avoid choosing a seat that does not match their academic interests or financial plans.

What happens after option entry?

A mock allotment is expected after the option-entry stage. It gives candidates an indication of the seat they may receive based on their rank, preferences and available seats. It is not a final allotment or a guarantee of admission.

An earlier Round 1 schedule also provided a window for candidates to modify their options after the mock allotment. However, because the option-entry deadline has changed, candidates should check KEA’s latest notice for the confirmed timing of the mock allotment, modification window and subsequent allotment results.

Candidates should arrange their choices in their genuine order of preference rather than entering options solely to test the mock allotment. They should also review the applicable KEA counselling guidelines for how Round 1 choices may affect later rounds.

Where to check official updates

Candidates can visit the KEA website for counselling notices, the seat matrix and fee information. They should complete option entry before the revised deadline and save their submission confirmation. With both preferences and costs at stake, a careful final check is worth the time.
