For many medical aspirants, the Stray Vacancy Round is the last chance to get a seat. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chhattisgarh has now released the Clear Vacancy Seat Matrix for NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 4, also known as the Stray Vacancy Round.

According to the official PDF, 180 seats are vacant for MBBS and BDS courses across government and private colleges in the state.

The matrix is the most reliable source to see where seats are available. But please remember that a vacant seat does not guarantee admission. Allotment depends on your merit, category, quota eligibility and the choices you fill.

Key Highlights at a Glance

  • Total vacant seats: 180

  • MBBS seats: 87 across 8 medical colleges

  • BDS seats: 93 across 7 dental colleges

  • Quota-wise split: 34 Government Quota, 145 Management Quota and 1 Minority Quota

  • Official notice date: 16 October 2026

MBBS Vacancies: Where Are the 87 Seats?

The 87 MBBS seats are spread across eight medical colleges. A large share of them are in private institutions under the Management Quota.

  • Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur: 1 seat (Government Quota, OP-FF)

  • Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur: 23 seats (Government Quota SC-1; Management Quota OBC-1, OP-21)

  • Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai: 2 seats (Management Quota OP-2)

  • Shri Balaji Institute of Medical Science, Raipur: 2 seats (Government Quota ST-1; Management Quota OP-1)

  • Government Medical College, Manendragarh: 1 seat (Government Quota OP-1)

The official notice also explains that after the deadline for NRI category admissions ended, all remaining NRI seats were converted into Management Quota seats. This is why NRI seats are not shown separately in the list.

Round 4 Schedule and Important Instructions

As per the official notice dated 16 October 2026, the Round 4 schedule was:

  • Online registration: 17 October (11:00 AM) to 18 October (5:00 PM)

  • Choice filling and locking: 17 October (11:00 AM) to 18 October (11:59 PM)

As of 19 October, the registration link was still visible on the counselling portal, but we could not find any official notice about an extension. Please do not assume the window is still open. Check the latest update on the official CGDME portal.

What candidates needed to do:

Already registered candidates who have not been allotted a seat in earlier rounds had to do fresh choice filling. Earlier choices are not carried forward automatically.

If you do not fill choices, no seat will be allotted to you.

If you had chosen only government colleges earlier and now want to add private colleges, you may have to pay the difference in registration fee.

Choose your colleges carefully. If you do not join after allotment, you may lose your registration fee.

Does a Vacant Seat Guarantee Admission?

No. The 180 vacancies only show which seats are available. Final allotment depends on your NEET rank, reservation category, quota eligibility and the preferences you filled. Fees and cut-offs are not given in the vacancy matrix, so please check them separately in the official fee documents.

Bottom line: This round is a real final chance, especially for candidates who are open to Management Quota seats in private colleges. Rely only on official notices and act quickly once you have checked your eligibility.
