According to the official Round 2 Scrutiny & Admission Notice dated 14 September 2026, the scrutiny and admission window for MBBS and BDS Round 2 was actually scheduled from 16 September 2026 (10:00 AM) to 22 September 2026 (4:00 PM), with the final deadline to take admission at the allotted institute being 22 September 2026 (5:00 PM). In other words, unless DME puts out a fresh extension or a revised notice, the Round 2 reporting window has already closed.

Merit list vs allotment list: what the numbers actually mean

The Round 2 provisional allotment list, on the other hand, is 137 pages long with serial numbers going up to 2,096, meaning 2,096 allotment records appear in the published list. It’s worth being careful here — this doesn’t mean “2,096 new seats.” The list actually captures a few different outcomes:
- Fresh Allotment — a brand-new seat given in Round 2
- Upgraded — the candidate moved to a better or higher-preference option compared to Round 1
- Not Upgraded (Seat Retained) — the candidate kept their Round 1 seat, and the Round 2 list simply notes this as a retention
This distinction matters because, as per the notice, candidates whose seats were retained didn’t need to go through the admission formalities again for Round 2.
Where scrutiny happened, and the key rules
The Round 2 notice also spelled out where scrutiny and admission needed to happen:
- For government medical colleges and the government dental college, scrutiny and admission took place at the allotted institute itself.
- For private colleges, specific scrutiny centres were notified — including one at the Health Sciences & AYUSH University campus area for certain private medical colleges.
The notice also flagged a few important compliance points — like reporting within the deadline, following the scrutiny instructions, and being aware that fees or registration amounts could be forfeited in certain seat-leaving situations, as per the rules laid out.
For candidates who got upgraded, the notice also mentions a practical step: getting a relieving letter from your previous institute before joining the upgraded seat, wherever this applies.
