Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur was established by the Sree Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES) in the year 1988. The institute is also known as SSMC. The institution is spread over 220 acres of land. SSMC is affiliated to Sri Siddhartha University formerly known as Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education.
