In the quiet hills of Vavanoor near Koottanad in Palakkad district, Kerala, stands Ashtamgam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyapeedham. The name itself tells a story: Chikitsalayam means the treatment centre, Vidyapeedham the seat of learning, and Ashtamgam recalls the eight classical branches of Ayurveda. Together they describe an institution that tries to keep traditional knowledge alive while training students for today’s healthcare needs.
Established around 2016 and run by Ashtanga Educational Trust, the college is a private, self-financing Ayurveda medical college affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur. It holds recognition from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Ministry of AYUSH.
