About AME’s Dental College and Hospital, Raichur: An Honest Guide for Aspiring Dentists

Choosing a dental college is about more than securing a seat. It is where you will develop clinical judgement, learn to care for patients and build the foundations of your career. Established in 1991–92, AME’s Dental College and Hospital in Raichur, Karnataka, offers undergraduate and postgraduate dental education. The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru.

If AME’s is on your counselling shortlist, here is what its published information tells you—and what you should check for yourself before joining.

The College at a Glance

  • Location: Bijangera Road, near Government Polytechnic, Raichur – 584103

  • Institution type: Private dental college and hospital

  • BDS intake: 50 permitted seats shown in the 2026–27 regulatory record

  • MDS intake: 18 permitted seats across six specialities

  • NAAC assessment: B+ grade, CGPA 2.63, following its first-cycle assessment in August 2023

The permitted intake is a useful starting point, but applicants should always check the final counselling seat matrix for the seats and quotas available to them.

BDS and MDS Courses

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme comprises four academic years followed by a compulsory one-year internship. Students begin with foundational subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology and Dental Materials before progressing to clinical disciplines, including Conservative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Prosthodontics.

For postgraduate study, the college lists three MDS seats in each of these six specialities:

  • Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

  • Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry

  • Periodontology

  • Prosthodontics, Crown and Bridge

  • Oral Medicine and Radiology

MDS applicants should verify the current permission, quota and availability for their chosen speciality during counselling.

How Admission Works

BDS applicants must meet the applicable Class 12 subject and marks requirements, qualify NEET-UG and participate in the authorised counselling process. MDS applicants must meet the relevant BDS eligibility requirements, qualify NEET-MDS and follow the notified postgraduate counselling process.

For Karnataka seats, candidates should review the latest Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) instructions and the rules for their particular quota. Before locking choices, check the seat matrix, applicable fee category and reporting deadline. Keep your NEET scorecard, academic records, identity proof and any required category or domicile documents ready.

Remember: submitting a college enquiry form is not the same as receiving a valid counselling allotment.

Understanding the 2026–27 Fees

The college’s published BDS fee schedule lists tuition of ₹2,75,000, a material fee of ₹30,000, and hostel and mess charges of ₹90,000. It also lists ₹10,000 each for instruments and apron, and graduation; a refundable ₹5,000 caution deposit; and ₹500 each for admission and hostel applications.

The published MDS tuition figures vary by speciality. They range from ₹3,00,000 for Oral Medicine to ₹14,00,000 for Conservative Dentistry. Orthodontics is listed at ₹11,00,000, Periodontology at ₹6,00,000, and Paedodontics and Prosthodontics at ₹7,00,000 each. Additional listed charges include ₹80,000 for materials and ₹90,000 for hostel and mess.

Do not assume these amounts are all annual fees or full-course totals. The online schedules do not clearly specify the payment frequency of every item or how fees apply across counselling quotas. Request a written, quota-specific statement covering all instalments, examination charges, deposits and refund rules before paying.

Campus and Clinical Training

According to the college’s published information, its campus covers 4 acres and 38.16 guntas. Reported facilities include preclinical workstations, dental chairs, imaging equipment, a library and research support. The college also describes supervised patient care across its dental departments.

Its 2023 NAAC Self-Study Report records annual outpatient figures ranging from 23,624 to 98,463 between 2017–18 and 2021–22. These are historical, institution-reported numbers—not a measure of patient flow in 2026. During a campus visit, ask about current department-wise cases, opportunities to perform procedures under supervision and the condition of working equipment.

Clarify the arrangements for medical and surgical postings, too. The regulatory profile names Government Medical College Teaching Hospital, Raichur, while the college’s 2023 report describes it as a stand-alone dental institution. Ask which medical hospital currently supports the required training.

Hostel and Student Life

Regulatory data for 2025–26 lists a boys’ hostel with a capacity of 60 and a girls’ hostel with a capacity of 120. These figures do not guarantee room availability in 2026–27. The college also describes canteen, transport and recreational facilities.

If you plan to stay on campus, confirm room sharing, hostel rules, availability and the period covered by the listed ₹90,000 hostel and mess charge.

What the NAAC Grade Means

The college received a NAAC B+ grade with a CGPA of 2.63 in its first assessment cycle, following a visit in August 2023. That is a useful institutional reference, but it is not a national ranking or a guarantee of hands-on clinical experience. Faculty availability, supervision and recent university results deserve close attention as well.

Before You Make Your Decision

Ask for written or verifiable information on:

  • Current quota-wise fees, deposits and refund terms

  • The final BDS and MDS seat matrix

  • Recent patient flow and clinical training opportunities

  • Faculty strength and internship supervision

  • Approved arrangements for medical postings

  • Hostel availability and recent university results

AME’s Dental College and Hospital may be a suitable option if its courses, location and costs align with your plans. Its long history, RGUHS affiliation and range of MDS specialities make it worth exploring. Before committing, visit the campus if possible, speak with current students and compare its current clinical exposure and total cost with your other choices.
