Good news for candidates waiting on their West Bengal NEET UG counselling update — the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has finally put out the Round 2 result on its official site, wbmcc.nic.in. Keep in mind, this is being called a “Provisional Seat Allotment Result,” not the final merit list, so make sure you go through the reporting and admission instructions carefully before you relax.
If you check the UG Medical & Dental Counselling page, you’ll find the Round 2 seat allotment result sitting right there in the download section. It’s a massive document — titled “PROVISIONAL SEAT ALLOTMENT RESULT ROUND-2 (WB UG MEDICAL & DENTAL COUNSELLING 2026)” and running across 592 pages — but don’t worry, it simply lists candidate-wise allotments for MBBS and BDS seats across all the government and private colleges taking part this year.
What will you find in the Round 2 PDF?
Once you open the file, look for your NEET All India Rank (AIR), the choice number you filled, the institute you’ve been allotted, the course (MBBS or BDS), your quota, category, and allotment status. The PDF covers allotments under the State Quota, and for private colleges, it also shows seats given under Management Quota and, where relevant, NRI Quota.
Understanding your status — Fresh, Retained, Upgraded or Not Upgraded
WBMCC has tagged every result with a status, and it’s worth knowing what each one means for you:
- Fresh Allotment: You’ve been given a brand-new seat in this round.
- Retained: Nothing’s changed — your earlier seat stays the same.
- Upgraded: Congratulations, you’ve moved to a better seat than before.
- Not Upgraded: You didn’t get a higher preference this time, so your earlier allotment continues as per the rules.
Heads up — reporting window extended to September 19
Here’s the update that matters most right now. WBMCC released a revised schedule on 17 September 2026, adding 19 September 2026 (10 AM to 4 PM) as one more day for Round 2 candidates to complete their reporting and admission. Originally, this window was only 16 to 18 September (10 AM to 4 PM) — so this extra day is a bit of breathing room for anyone who couldn’t make it earlier.
Whenever you go to report, carry your original documents, the required fees, and anything else your institute asks for — including a bond or undertaking, if applicable — since your admission won’t be complete without physical verification.
If you’ve been upgraded, do this first
Got an upgrade? Don’t rush straight to your new college. First, go back to your previous college, collect the documents and fees you’d submitted there, and get a server-generated relieving letter. Only after that’s sorted should you head to your newly allotted college to finish the admission process.
Reporting for private colleges — check the venue carefully
One thing worth double-checking: reporting for private seats doesn’t always mean showing up at the private college itself. As per the revised schedule, private medical college admissions are being conducted at designated government medical colleges in Kolkata, while private dental admissions are being handled at Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College. So, before you head out, read the specific notice for your category so you land at the right place.
