If you are waiting for the Stray Vacancy Round in West Bengal, this is an important moment. The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) released a revised schedule on 12th October 2026. As per this schedule, 17th October has three major activities: document verification, release of the verified candidates list and seat matrix, and choice filling.
We know counselling can be stressful, so here is the whole update in a simple, step-by-step way.
What Is Happening on 17th October?
Document verification: 9 AM to 4 PM. Candidates who completed online registration and fee payment on 16th October must appear for physical verification. Your verification centre and time slot are mentioned in your Candidate Profile Letter.
- Verified candidates list and seat matrix: after 5 PM. The list of successfully verified candidates and the official seat matrix for the Stray Vacancy Round will be published after 5 PM.
- Choice filling and locking: from 6 PM. Only verified candidates can fill their choices online. The window will remain open till 10 AM on 18th October.

Document Verification: What Should You Carry?
To avoid last-minute panic, keep these things ready:
- Your downloaded Candidate Profile Letter, which mentions your verification centre and reporting time.
- All original documents, including your NEET UG 2026 scorecard, domicile certificate, category certificate and educational certificates.
- Quota-related documents, as per your application.
Important note for NRI candidates: The general verification process mentioned above does not apply to NRI candidates. Please check the separate instructions issued for the NRI quota.
Choice Filling: The Most Important Step
This step decides where you get admission, so keep these points in mind:
- Only successfully verified candidates will get access to choice filling in their login.
- You will see only those colleges and quotas for which you are eligible.
- Arrange your choices strictly in the order of your genuine preference. You can add, remove and reorder them as you wish.
- Once you lock your choices, you cannot change them. So, double-check everything before locking, and do it before 10 AM on 18th October.
Round 3 Revised Result vs Stray Vacancy Round: Do Not Get Confused
Many students are confusing these two, so let us clear it up.
On 12th October, WBMCC published a Revised Provisional Round 3 Allotment Result, after MCC, New Delhi, instructed it to filter out candidates who had already taken admission through the All India Quota (AIQ). Because of this, one seat at Midnapore Medical College became vacant and was adjusted in the revised result.
- No fresh choice filling was conducted for this revision. Affected Round 3 candidates should download their Revised Provisional Allotment Letter from their login.
- This is completely different from the fresh Stray Vacancy Round, which has its own verification, seat matrix and choice filling process.
