Kolkata, September 17, 2026: The West Bengal NEET UG Medical & Dental Counselling 2026 process is currently going through its most important stage — Round 2 reporting and admission. There's no fresh UG Medical & Dental notice dated September 17 on the WBMCC notice page, but that doesn't mean things have paused.

As per the revised Round 2 schedule (issued on September 3, 2026), candidates who've been allotted a seat in Round 2 need to physically report and complete admission at their allotted institute between September 16 and September 18, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Round 2 seat allotment result itself was released after 6:00 PM on September 15, 2026, and the admission window opened right after that. Candidates should treat September 18 as the last date for Round 2 reporting, unless WBMCC announces a separate extension.

What Round 2 candidates should do today (September 17)

If you've been allotted a seat in Round 2, here's what you need to do:

  • Check your allotment properly — don't just look at the college name. The result PDF also shows your quota, category, and status, marked as either "Fresh Allotment" or "Retained."
  • Report to your allotted institute in person, within the reporting window of September 16–18, 10 AM to 4 PM.
  • Carry your original documents for verification and complete the admission process, including paying the required college fees as per your institute's rules.

Under WBMCC's counselling rules, your allotment stays provisional until you've completed document verification and admission at the college. If your documents fall short in any way, it can affect your candidature.

Seat allotment result and seat matrix are out

WBMCC has published both the Round 2 provisional seat allotment result (a large PDF running into hundreds of pages) and the Round 2 seat matrix, which shows how many seats are available institute-wise, course-wise, quota-wise, and category-wise. Broadly, the matrix covers seats under State Quota, Private Management Quota, and NRI Quota for MBBS and BDS programmes across various government and private institutions in West Bengal.

Don't misread the "server extended" message

There's a message on the WBMCC homepage saying "Round 2 Admission Server Extended till 8 pm on 16.09.2026." This applies only to September 16 — it isn't a blanket extension covering the entire reporting schedule for September 17–18, so don't assume your deadline has moved.

Still relevant: the September 9 "urgent notice"

One of the most important things active right now isn't a new notice — it's the urgent notice from September 9, 2026, which is still very much actionable.

This notice offers a special email-based "initialisation" facility for certain eligible non-allotted candidates — specifically, those who couldn't opt for Private Medical/Dental College State Quota or Management Quota choices earlier because they hadn't paid the required security deposit.

One-time email request window:

  • Opens: September 16, 2026, 10:00 AM
  • Closes: September 18, 2026, midnight (12:00 AM)

WBMCC has made it clear that this is not a reopening of Round 2 registration. It's a limited window meant to help eligible candidates get their candidature initialised for Round 3 onward, and it still requires further steps and payments after this.

Security deposit amounts (from the bulletin)

For your reference, here's what the counselling bulletin lists as the security deposit:

  • Private College State Quota: ₹2,00,000
  • Private College Management Quota: ₹5,00,000

The counselling registration fee is separate — ₹2,000 for UR candidates, and ₹1,500 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS candidates, as per the bulletin.

What about Round 3?

As of September 17, there's no dated Round 3 schedule notice prominently listed on the current UG schedule page yet, so candidates should keep checking the official page for updates. Also worth remembering — seat surrender isn't allowed from Round 3 onward, so think carefully before making decisions in later rounds.
