Lucknow, September 18, 2026: The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has postponed the second round of UP NEET UG 2026 online counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions “till further orders.” The decision came through an official notice dated September 17, 2026 (Notice No. ME-3/2026/1692), and it's currently the most recent update on the official UPNEET portal.

The postponement affects everyone in the UP-State quota counselling process for undergraduate medical and dental seats across government and private colleges in the state. DGME hasn't given a specific reason, citing only “unavoidable reasons/circumstances,” and has asked candidates to keep checking the official websites — upneet.gov.in and dgme.up.gov.in — for updates.

What Round 2 looked like before the postponement

Before this notice, DGME had put out a detailed Round 2 schedule on September 11, 2026 (Notice No. ME-3/2026/1644). Under that plan, online registration was to run from September 14 (5 PM) to September 17 (11 AM), while the window for paying the registration fee and security fee was open from September 14 (5 PM) to September 17 (2 PM).

The schedule also had the Round 2 merit list coming out on September 17, with choice filling starting the same day at 5 PM and running until September 19 (5 PM). Seat allotment results were planned for September 21, followed by allotment letter downloads and admission reporting from September 22 to 25.

With Round 2 now postponed indefinitely, none of these remaining steps — the merit list, choice filling, allotment or admissions — can go ahead as originally planned.

Was the merit list released on September 17?

Based on available information and the timing of the postponement notice, the merit list that was due on September 17 wasn't released as scheduled. Since the whole process is on hold, candidates shouldn't assume any of the earlier deadlines — like the choice-filling end date or the allotment result date — are still active.

It's worth noting that DGME has used the word “postponement,” not “cancellation.” That means the process has been paused, and a revised schedule is expected to follow.

Has a new schedule come out yet?

As of September 18, 2026, no revised Round 2 schedule has appeared on the official UPNEET notification page. The most recent item there is still the September 17 postponement notice for UP NEET UG 2026 MBBS/BDS counselling.

Candidates are advised not to trust unofficial sources or “new dates” doing the rounds on social media until DGME puts out a fresh notification on the official portal itself.

What should candidates do in the meantime?

  • Keep checking the official portals — upneet.gov.in and dgme.up.gov.in — regularly
  • Hold on to your registration and fee-payment proof for later
  • Wait for DGME's revised timetable before making any travel or admission plans

The bigger picture

This matters because state counselling schedules usually move in step with the national calendar. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has already published its revised AIQ and state counselling timeline, but DGME hasn't officially tied this postponement to anything MCC-related. For now, the only confirmed reason is “unavoidable circumstances.”

In short: UP NEET UG 2026 Round 2 is postponed, new dates are awaited, and candidates should rely only on official updates.
