New Delhi, September 12, 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the final allotment result for Round 2 of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 Counselling. Available now on the official portal, the massive 2,666-page final result document lists the candidate-wise allotment details for MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing courses across multiple institutional quotas.

According to an in-depth analysis of the 36,752 candidate entries listed in the official final PDF, a total of 21,111 candidates currently hold an active allotted or retained seat status after the conclusion of Round 2. The precise breakdown of the final outcomes is as follows:

  • Fresh Allotted in 2nd Round: 8,828 candidates (allotted new seats)
  •  Upgraded: 4,608 candidates (successfully moved to a higher-preference choice)
  • Retained: 7,675 candidates (retained their Round 1 allotted college)
  •  Not Allotted: 2,903 candidates
  •  Did Not Opt for Upgradation: 8,802 candidates
  • Did Not Fill Up Fresh Choices: 3,936 candidates

This considerable seat movement in Round 2 was driven by a robust vacancy matrix. A total of 659 newly added medical seats were introduced in this round, complementing 11,302 clear vacancies and 12,283 virtual vacancies. The allotment covers all major national quotas, including All India Quota (AIQ), Open Seat Quota, Delhi University (DU), IP University, AMU, ESIC, NRI, and Self-Financed Merit seats.

Critical MCC Instruction Regarding Category/Quota Upgrades

The MCC has issued a vital administrative warning in the official document. If a candidate’s category or quota has changed within the same institution and course, they must complete the following steps to avoid seat cancellation:

  •      Obtain an online-generated relieving letter from their currently allotted college.
  •      Take fresh admission under the newly changed category/quota seat.
  •      Secure a fresh, online-generated admission letter.

Failure to obtain this fresh admission letter will result in the immediate cancellation of the allotted seat.

Reporting and Joining Schedule

Candidates who have been allotted fresh seats or have successfully upgraded their choices in Round 2 must physically report to their respective designated medical/dental colleges.

  •         Reporting Window: September 12, 2026, to September 18, 2026.
  •         Verification of Joined Candidates: September 19, 2026.

Candidates are requested to carry their original academic certificates, NEET UG rank cards, online-allotment letters, and category documents to complete the verification process seamlessly.
