New Delhi | Updated: 9 October 2026 | The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced the schedule for the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) Medical Assessment for Round 1 of NEET PG Counselling 2026 through Notice No. 1, dated 28 September 2026. This is not a new announcement issued today. Nevertheless, 9 October marks a crucial deadline, as the Primary Medical Assessment Board window closes at 5:00 PM today.

Candidates seeking PwD benefits in Round 1 should treat this as a deadline-day reminder and check MCC’s official documents for any last-minute changes.

What Is Important on 9 October?

According to MCC’s notice, the Primary PwD Medical Assessment runs from 1 to 9 October 2026 and closes at 5:00 PM today. Candidates need this assessment to obtain a PwD Eligibility Certificate from the designated medical board.

These dates relate only to disability assessment. They are separate from the Round 1 registration, choice-filling and seat-allotment schedule.

Key Dates for PwD Assessment (MCC Notice No. 1)

  • Primary Medical Assessment Board Schedule: 1–9 October 2026, with the window closing at 5:00 PM on the final day.
  • Appellate Medical Assessment Board: 5 October 2026, from 10:00 AM, to 12 October 2026, until 5:00 PM

Who Should Read This Update?

This update is for NEET PG 2026 candidates applying under the PwD category for MD/MS/DNB admissions through MCC counselling who need an eligibility certificate from the designated Medical Assessment Board.

MCC’s PG Information Bulletin indicates that a UDID card or an older disability certificate may not be sufficient on its own for PwD eligibility in MCC counselling. Candidates should follow the assessment process specified for the current academic session.

Primary Board vs Appellate Board: What Is the Difference?

  • Primary assessment: The first medical evaluation to determine disability-related eligibility.
  • Appellate assessment: A review available if you appeal the Primary Board’s decisionThis should not be treated as an optional second opportunity to complete the initial assessment.
  • Documents to Keep Ready (Based on Bulletin/Notice References)
  • Before attending, consult the latest version of the official bulletin available on the MCC website:
  • NEET PG 2026 scorecard
  • A Unique Disability ID (UDID) card issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
  • Self-certified affidavits in the prescribed formats, including Schedule-I/Appendix-A and the applicable disability-category formats such as Appendix-B to F
  • Any additional documents required by the designated assessment centre, as stated in its reporting instructions

Appeal Process: Where and How to Apply

If the Primary Board declares you ineligible and you want to challenge the decision, MCC’s standard operating procedure (SOP) lists these email addresses for the appeal process:

  • disabilityappeal-chair@gov.in
  • disabilityappeal-convener@gov.in

Mention your preferred Appellate Assessment Centre in the appeal email. The centres listed in the published SOP are:

  • VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi
  • Grant Govt Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai
  • BHU, Varanasi
  • Madras Medical College, Chennai
  • IPGMER, Kolkata

Wait for the nodal officer to confirm your appointment and provide reporting instructions. Do not travel to an appellate centre without confirmation.

How This Relates to the NEET PG Round 1 Counselling Schedule

MCC’s tentative Round 1 schedule lists the following dates:

  • Registration and payment: 12 to 21 October 2026
  • Choice filling: 13 to 22 October 2026
  • Tentative date for the declaration of the Round 1 result: 24 October 2026.

The assessment deadline matters because the Primary Medical Assessment closes before Round 1 registration is scheduled to begin.
