1 November 2026: NEET PG candidates seeking reservation as persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) face an imminent deadline. The Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) PG counselling website lists 2 November, 6 pm, as the closing time for its Primary Assessment Board portal. The Appellate Board portal, open since 29 October, remains available until 5 November, 6 pm.

These are separate stages, not two mandatory registrations for every candidate.

Which deadline applies to you?

  • Primary Board — 2 November, 6 pm: For candidates undergoing their initial assessment at an MCC-designated disability centre.

  • Appellate Board — 5 November, 6 pm: For candidates declared ineligible by a Primary Board who wish to seek a review.

A portal deadline does not mean a medical examination has been completed. Candidates should confirm appointment, attendance and document requirements with the designated centre.

Eligibility goes beyond disability percentage

MCC’s PG information bulletin provides 5% horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates in All India Quota PG seats. To claim it, candidates need at least 40% benchmark disability, a valid Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card, and an eligibility certificate from an MCC-designated Medical Assessment Board. A certificate from another hospital cannot replace this assessment.

The board considers whether a candidate can fulfil the academic and clinical requirements of the chosen PG speciality, including with assistive devices or reasonable accommodation. Under NMC guidelines, a diagnosis or disability percentage alone should not determine ineligibility.

Keep these documents ready:

  • NEET PG 2026 scorecard and valid UDID card.

  • Schedule-I self-certified affidavit describing functional abilities.

  • Appendix-A self-certification and the applicable disability-specific affidavit from Appendices B–F.

What happens during assessment?

The designated board verifies records and evaluates functional abilities in relation to the speciality, including patient-safety considerations. Its decision can be eligible, eligible with reasonable accommodation, or ineligible. An ineligible decision should give written reasons. The eligibility certificate is valid only for the current academic session.

Before visiting, check MCC’s assessment-centre list: not every centre assesses every disability category.

How to appeal an ineligible decision

Choose an authorised Appellate Board and follow the bulletin’s appeal procedure. Email the appeal, naming the selected board, to disabilityappeal-chair@gov.in and disabilityappeal-convener@gov.in. Check any round-specific submission requirement in the bulletin, too.

A nodal officer will communicate the reassessment date, venue and required documents. Attend as instructed; sending an email alone does not complete the process. The designated appellate centres are in New Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Chennai and Kolkata. The board forwards its decision to MCC, copying DGHS. That decision is final for counselling purposes, subject to any competent court order.

Follow current dates, not old notices

MCC’s 28 September notice listed earlier October assessment dates. Candidates should follow the deadlines currently displayed on the MCC website, watch for updates and retain their assessment decision and portal records.
