Bhopal: Candidates in Madhya Pradesh NEET UG Counselling 2026 should note that today, 1 October 2026, is the last date to resign from a Round 2 allotted/joined seat. The resignation window will close at 6:00 PM. At the same time, Mop-Up Round registration is already on and will stay open till 2 October 2026 (11:59 PM), as per the latest notices on the official MP DME counselling portal.

Round 2 resignation: what candidates should know

According to the official notice on the extended Round 2 resignation window, it applies to candidates who have already taken admission on their allotted seat. Resignation is not something you can do online from home. The candidate must personally report to the allotted/admission college to complete the online resignation process before the deadline.

Candidates should think very carefully before resigning. The notice clearly says that a candidate who resigns in this window will not be eligible for further rounds of MP State UG Counselling. In simple words, resignation should not be treated as a way to enter the Mop-Up Round.

Money matters: resignation penalty

The notice also mentions a penalty amount:

  • Non-NRI candidates: ₹2,00,000
  • NRI candidates: ₹10,00,000

Because of the penalty and the loss of eligibility, students and parents are advised to decide with full information. If needed, confirm the details with the college or the counselling helpdesk.

Upgradation is a separate option

To avoid confusion, MP DME has also issued a separate notice on upgradation willingness. The upgradation willingness link was reopened and is available till 1 October 2026, 4:00 PM. This is a different process from resignation. It is meant for candidates who want to be considered for a better option through the system (as applicable). Do not mix up the two deadlines:

  • Upgradation willingness deadline: 1 October, 4 PM
  • Round 2 resignation deadline: 1 October, 6 PM

Mop-Up Round 2026: key dates to track

As per the official Mop-Up schedule for MBBS/BDS:

  • Fresh registration: 28 September to 2 October 2026 (till 11:59 PM)
  • Revised State Merit List: 3 October 2026
  • Mop-Up vacancy publication: 3 October 2026
  • Choice filling and locking: 4 to 7 October 2026 (till 11:59 PM)
  • Mop-Up allotment result: 10 October 2026
  • Reporting and admission: 11 to 14 October 2026 (till 6:00 PM)

One useful clarification in the schedule: candidates who are already registered in MP counselling generally do not need to register again for Mop-Up. But fresh choice filling is required in the Mop-Up choice filling window (4 to 7 October). Do not assume that your earlier choices will carry forward.

Candidates should keep checking the MP DME official portal for last-minute updates, vacancy positions and instructions on reporting and admission.
