Ranchi: Round 3 counselling for MBBS, BDS and BHMS admissions is on in Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) is running it under Jharkhand NEET UG Counselling 2026. As per the revised schedule (Advt. No. 84 dated September 17, 2026), the “Revised Vacant Seat Matrix” is scheduled to be displayed on October 5, 2026.

There is one thing candidates should know, though. As of October 5, 2026, the dated revised matrix PDF was not visible on JCECEB’s official download page when it was checked. The latest medical entries on that page are still the September 28 revised merit and not-eligible lists and the September 27–28 provisional seat matrices.

So, for now, please treat the October 5 matrix as scheduled or expected (if applicable), not as released, until a fresh PDF actually shows up on the portal.

What is happening in Round 3 right now?

Choice filling for Round 3 has already begun. The revised schedule gives these dates:

  • Choice filling (ongoing): started on September 28, 2026
  • Last date for choice filling: October 7, 2026, till 6:00 PM
  • Choice editing window: October 7, from 6:01 PM to 12:00 midnight
  • Provisional seat allotment letter download: October 9 to October 14, 2026
  • Document verification and admission: October 10 to October 14, 2026

Oct 5 update: the revised vacancy matrix is conditional

The schedule says the revised vacant seat matrix on October 5 is conditional. It usually matters only if seats are surrendered after the AIQ (All India Quota) Round 3 movements, since that can change how many State Quota seats are available. Candidates should keep checking the official portal for any new PDF later in the day.

Seat availability: what the current matrices show

The provisional Round 3 matrices on the portal show 238 seats in the State Quota matrix (MBBS/BDS/BHMS combined, as per the row-wise total). The breakup is:

  • MBBS (State Quota): 85
  • BDS (State Quota): 136
  • BHMS (State Quota): 17
  • Total (State Quota): 238

Apart from this, the provisional MBBS All India/NRI quota vacancies in private medical colleges are 177 seats (95 All India + 82 NRI). The BDS All India/NRI matrix shows 59 seats (44 All India + 15 NRI).

Add everything together and the listed provisional vacancies across the available matrices come to 474 seats. Please treat this as a provisional total. It can change if a revised matrix is published on October 5.

Notable vacancies (provisional State Quota matrix)

Some of the larger vacancy blocks are:

  • Awadh Dental College & Hospital, Jamshedpur (BDS): 73
  • Hazaribagh College of Dental Sciences & Hospital (BDS): 43
  • Netaji Subhas Medical College & Hospital (MBBS): 38
  • Sido Kanhu Medical College & Hospital, Dumka (MBBS): 12
  • RIMS, Ranchi (MBBS): 9

What candidates should do between Oct 5 and Oct 7

To avoid last-minute trouble:

  • Check the JCECEB download section for any new “revised vacant seat matrix” (dated Oct 5, if it is issued).
  • Confirm your status in the Revised State Merit List and go through the Revised Not Eligible List (both dated Sept 28 on the portal).
  • Finish choice filling before 6 PM on Oct 7. Use the editing window (6:01 PM to 12 midnight) only for final corrections.
  • Keep the provisional allotment letter window (Oct 9–14) in mind, and be ready for document verification and admission (Oct 10–14).
