Raipur, 1 October 2026 — Good news for NEET-UG aspirants in Chhattisgarh. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) has started Round 3 counselling for MBBS and BDS seats. Fresh online registration began today at 11:00 AM, after two notices were issued on 30 September 2026.

If you are still looking for a medical or dental seat in the state, this is your next chance. But the dates are tight, so note them down carefully.

Key dates you must not miss

Registration and application will stay open till 6 October 2026, 11:59 PM. Choice filling and locking of institutions also started today along with registration, but it will run one day longer, till 7 October 2026, 11:59 PM.

In simple words: complete your form by the night of 6 October, and lock your college choices by the night of 7 October. All timings follow the server time on the official portal, cgdme.admissions.nic.in.

Fresh registration, fresh choices

This is not just a carry-forward round. DME has invited new online registration, so eligible candidates who missed the earlier rounds can still apply, subject to the rules.

Even if you registered earlier, do not relax. Choices filled in previous rounds will not be treated as automatically active for Round 3. You have to fill your institution preferences again and lock them within the given time.

The usual process is: registration, fee payment, choice filling, choice locking, allotment, and then scrutiny or admission at the allotted college.

How many seats are left?

Going by the published count of the 28 September clear-vacancy list, around 424 MBBS/BDS vacancies have been reported. Roughly 200 are in MBBS and 224 in BDS. Within MBBS, reports mention about 37 government, 34 management and 129 NRI seats.

Still, please cross-check the official vacancy PDF on the DME website before finalising your choices, instead of depending only on secondary counts.

Be careful with private college payments

If you earlier paid only for government choices and now want to add private colleges too, you may have to pay the fee difference. Candidates who got a private seat in Round 2 but did not take admission may also need to pay again, because the earlier amount can be forfeited. So fill only those options that you are truly ready to join.

Separate steps for NRI quota

NRI aspirants do not get a separate registration route. They must complete the normal Round 3 registration and choice filling. In addition, they must email their NRI eligibility documents to cgneetugnri2026@gmail.com between 1 October, 11:00 AM and 7 October, 5:00 PM.

Please note that the NRI document deadline is 5 PM on 7 October, not midnight. Use this subject line format: "NEET UG 2026 -- NRI Quota Document Verification -- Candidate Name -- NEET Roll Number".

All papers should be clear, readable colour scans, arranged in serial order and sent as one single PDF. Depending on your case, you may need to send a family tree or genealogy certificate, sponsor passport, foreign residence proof, OCI card, bank statement and other Rule 13 documents.

If your NRI claim is rejected, your counselling does not end automatically. You may still continue in other categories you are eligible for.

Practical advice

Do not wait for the last hour. Keep your documents ready, confirm the fee conditions, fill realistic preferences and lock your choices on time. For official updates, follow cgdme.in and cgdme.admissions.nic.in only.
