The "Zero Choice" Rule: Do Not Get Left Behind
This is the most important point of Round 3: your choices from earlier rounds no longer count. CGDME has clearly stated that institution choices from earlier rounds have been cleared (set to "zero").
Even if you were registered in Round 1 or Round 2, you must log in and submit fresh institution choices for the Mop-Up round. If you do not fill fresh choices, you will not be considered for seat allotment in this round, whatever your rank.
Understanding the Vacancy Matrix (424 Seats)
As per the official Clear Vacancy PDF, a total of 424 seats are available. Here is the breakup:
1. MBBS Vacancy (200 Seats)
There are 200 MBBS seats, but they are spread very unevenly across the quotas:
-
Government Quota: 37 seats
-
Management Quota: 34 seats
-
NRI Quota: 129 seats
Private institutes like Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences (50 seats) and Abhishek I Mishra Memorial (39 seats) have the most vacancies. Government colleges like CIMS Bilaspur and GMC Raipur have very few seats left.
2. BDS Vacancy (224 Seats)
Dental aspirants have a slightly bigger pool, with 224 seats:
-
Government Quota: 145 seats
-
Management Quota: 70 seats
-
Minority Quota: 9 seats
The Government Dental College in Raipur has 34 clear vacancies for the BDS course.
Important Rules on Fees and Resignation
-
Fee forfeiture: If you were allotted a private medical college seat in Round 2 but did not join, your security deposit may have been forfeited. In that case, you must pay the applicable registration amount again to take part in Round 3.
-
Moving from government to private: If you registered earlier and now want to choose private colleges, you must pay the difference in the security deposit.
-
Resignation window: If you were admitted in an earlier round and want to leave the process, the resignation portal is open till 5 PM on 6 October.
How to Participate
- Visit the official portal: cgdme.admissions.nic.in.
- New candidates: Complete the fresh registration and pay the non-refundable application fee (₹1,000 for UR/OBC, ₹500 for SC/ST).
- Existing candidates: Log in and go directly to "Institution Selection."
- Fill choices carefully: Select only those colleges where you are really ready to join. If you do not join an allotted seat in the Mop-Up round, you can face a heavy financial penalty (forfeiture of the security deposit).
