The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published a tentative Round 1 schedule for NEET PG 2026. It proposes registration and fee payment from 12 to 21 October, the seat allotment result on 24 October, and reporting at allotted institutes between 26 October and 2 November.

But a published schedule does not always mean that registration is open. During a status check on 11 October, MCC's PG Medical Counselling page said it was waiting for the seat matrix from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The Candidate Activity Board showed "Will update soon".

Round 1 Schedule: Important Dates

The MCC PDF calls this schedule tentative. The key dates are:

  • Seat matrix verification: 10–12 October
  • Registration and fee payment: 12–21 October
  • Registration deadline: 12 noon on 21 October
  • Fee payment deadline: 3 pm on 21 October
  • Choice filling: 13–22 October, closing at 10 am on 22 October
  • Choice locking: 4 pm on 21 October to 10 am on 22 October
  • Seat allotment processing: 22–23 October
  • Round 1 result: 24 October
  • Reporting and joining: 26 October–2 November
  • Joined-candidate data verification: 3 November

Registration and payment have different cut-off times. Check the server time shown on the portal and do not wait for the last moment.

Is the Registration Portal Open?

The schedule gives 12 October as the proposed start date, but the status check on 11 October could not confirm that the registration link was active. This does not mean counselling has been officially postponed. Before you register or make travel plans, check MCC's latest notices and the Candidate Activity Board.

Fees and Counselling Coverage

MCC counselling covers 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and specified Central and Deemed University seats. State Quota counselling has separate dates and fee rules, which are announced by the respective state authorities.

The 2026 Information Bulletin lists these MCC fees:

  • AIQ – UR/EWS: ₹1,000 registration fee and ₹25,000 refundable security deposit
  • AIQ – SC/ST/OBC/PwD: ₹500 registration fee and ₹10,000 refundable security deposit
  • Deemed Universities: ₹5,000 registration fee and ₹2,00,000 security deposit

The security deposit follows MCC's refund and forfeiture rules. If you are applying for both AIQ and Deemed University seats, follow the combined-fee instructions given in the Information Bulletin.

Choice Filling and Rules After Allotment

Your seat depends on your merit and your choices. Enter colleges and courses in your true order of preference, and lock your choices before the deadline.

The 2026 Bulletin explains two options after allotment:

Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and report in person at the institute for joining and document verification.

Float: Show interest in an upgrade and upload the required documents for online verification. You do not need to report in person at this stage, but an upgraded seat is not guaranteed.

Keep these documents ready: NEET PG scorecard, MBBS degree or provisional certificate, internship completion proof, medical registration and photo ID. Also prepare category, PwBD or NRI/OCI documents if they apply to you, and check the Bulletin for the exact requirements.
