Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences is also known as SIDS Mangalore. It is one of the famous dental colleges of Karnataka state. SIDS Mangalore was founded in the year 2012-2013 under A Shama Rao Foundation Education Trust, Mangalore.
When the Srinivas Dental College was started, it only had an undergraduate course in dentistry with an Annual intake of 100 students. After that, the institute also started offering a postgraduate dental program. Under the PG dental course (MDS), various specialisation programs are available for the students.
SIDS Mangalore has an affiliation with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (Karnataka). This institute is recognised/approved by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
In Srinivas Dental College & Hospital, the students can find a BDS course and various MDS specialisation programs. Admission to the BDS program is given through the NEET UG examination and admission to the MDS program is given through the NEET MDS examination. Both these exams are national-level medical entrance exams which are conducted every year by the NTA.
The main aim behind the establishment of Srinivas Dental College was to fortify the weakest section of the Nation, i.e. Rural population. Currently, the Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences Mangalore is known for its quality dental education. It serves the students with the best dental care and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
