BIOCHEMISTRY LABORATORY:
The Department of Biochemistry was established in November 2016 by the amalgamation of parts of the Departments of Physiology and Pathology. Department of Physiology was established in November 2016 at Academic Block in JIMS Hospital with an annual intake capacity of 100 students. Department also participates in teaching laboratory methods in physiology to students of medical laboratory technicians training courses run by the directorate of medical education and research.

Sports and Games Facilities: 

The campus has facilities for outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, and Basketball and a 400-meter track for athletics. There are two bachelor’s degrees in the domain of MBBS a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. A total of 150 seats are there and the duration is 5 years, 1 year internship in the last year of the course.

·      Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants are required to have completed their 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board, Council, or University, and have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined, as well as have passed English. Duration: The duration of Postgraduate Medical Education in broad specialties is three years for the degree course after completion of MBBS.

NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) is an entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations for admission to various postgraduate medical courses such as MD, MS, PG Diploma, etc. in India.

The eligibility criteria for NEET-PG admission are as follows:

  • The HSC exam in any stream must be completed by a recognized board or university by the applicant.

Mandatory subjects

  • One must have physics, chemistry, biology–botany, and zoology along with English as mandatory subjects in the HSC exams.

  • General category applicants must score more than 45% marks in the qualifying exam

GNM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

GNM Course(3 Years)

The eligibility criteria for admission to the GNM Nursing training course depends upon two factors, one is Educational Qualification and the other Age limit.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have to pass the Higher Secondary Examination (10th+2) from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any recognized Council/Board for applying to the GNM course.

Age Limit

  • The minimum age limit of the applicant must be 17 years and the maximum is 27 years as of 1st January 2020.
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the District of West Bengal, from where the candidate wants to apply. (It means, if your permanent resident district is Hooghly, then you can only apply for Hooghly District).

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be selected for admission to the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) course based on their marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination & through the entrance examination to be held in June.

Selection will be made strictly based on the total marks obtained in the compulsory subjects (one language subject + English and the other best of three subjects except for Envs.) in the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination. Vocational stream students are not eligible.
