David Tvildiani Medical University started as AIETI in 1992. This facility is one of the first non-government treatment facilities, established in 1989. Since then, the institution has established a good reputation for medical education in Georgia. It is known as the only university in Georgia that offers medical education entirely in English.
DTMU (AIETI) joined the WHO AVICENNA Medical Directory as well as the Association of Doctoral Degrees, the Association of European Medical Schools (AMSE), and the Association of European Medical Education (AMEE). The European system of biomedical and health science education (ORPHEUS).
